A Chance to Unwind

It is truly amazing what a restful vacation will do for the mind and spirit. After spending three completely chill days and nights at the lake with John, we returned yesterday and did the usual laundry, grocery, etc to-do's, but I went to bed feeling truly refreshed. Not only my body but my mind. I felt ready to face the week and optimistic about my ability to handle the pressures of work and a busy schedule.

So often I feel rushed. Rushed to squeeze a workout in, to get to work on time, to jump from meeting to meeting, rushed to get home and let the dog out, to make it to a social commitment, to get the house ready, to get out of town, etc. To fit it all in. Slowing down and doing nothing (well, not really nothing, but a lot of laying at the pool, reading, and listening to music) over the long weekend really helped me re-charge my battery and clear my mind. I awoke today feeling AMAZING. I have a renewed sense of optimism, excitement, energy, and gratitude.

I hope I can remember this feeling and carry it with me moving forward. To be honest I have been really run down for a very long time - physically, mentally, and emotionally. Today is the first day where I feel deeply, truly good in a very long time. I have a strong feeling that good things are coming in regards to both short and long term goals.

The quote by Mahatma Gandhi "You must be the change you wish to see in the world" is something that's been on repeat in my mind all day. Words to live by, no?

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day Weekend and had a chance to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday, as well as to relax and unwind.

  1. I totally get this. I actually felt happy yesterday for the first time in a long time. I normally feel frustrated.

Too funny that you recognized Jason on tv. I didn't even know that they had an update to that story until I asked him about it.

  2. Tracy, I think you have been in my head! I have been so run down these past few weeks. I felt like Alex and I took a social vacation and really spent time relaxing and doing the things that allow us to recharge. Then out of no where I just filled our calendars to the max. I have felt so stressed even when I am with people I love, because I am simply spent! So, what I am saying is that I can completely relate to how you are feeling right now. I have scheduled a day in the near future where I am going to the lake, by myself (unheard of), and just relaxing and giving myself time to think!
